Find ways to hear and share the stories of the 'forgotten society'

As well as valuing the community activity that's already happening, we should make Our Society a place that shares the stories of people who are marginalised or feel excluded. We can do this by working with local groups, holding workshops or events that record these stories.

My last two votes have gone to this newbie! So important, something we've been thinking about in working on a community approach to reading & literacy - working on a "local legends" project, using storytellers that are popular within a particular community to uncover stories.

I could not agree more! Huge numbers of educated, articulate (middle class?) demos against library cuts and forest sales versus hardly anyone demonstrating against cuts to Sure-start, Meals on wheels, for disadvantaged and probably less articulate (or too busy surviving). Not just "me" or "us" but everyone!
